Kimberly A. Dewey, M.D.
I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona (although I spent six years in South Lake Tahoe, CA in shortly after I was born) and went to undergraduate school at the University of Denver in Colorado, so I am really a transplanted Western gal! I attended Memorial University of Newfoundland for medical school in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada before completing my Pediatric Residency at Baystate Medical Center here in Springfield and settling in the Pioneer Valley.
My husband, Mike, is from Eastern MA near Boston which is how we ultimately ended up here after traveling to so many locations prior to finding our home in Western Massachusetts.
I have been with Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine since 2004. I enjoy all aspects of pediatric medicine from the well visits as babies, through the (sometimes bumpy) years of adolescence. One area of interest for me is lactation and assisting breastfeeding mothers and babies as well as all new parents with the transition of raising a baby. In addition to this, I have also become licensed to treat teens addicted to opiates. This was not an area that I thought I would find myself, but there is (sadly) such a need to have treatment options for our adolescents seeking help in this area. I am currently one of only a few Pediatricians in Western MA licensed to prescribe a medication to help combat opiate addiction. I am Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and am a member and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
My husband and I live in Belchertown and have two boys, Max and Joey, who are both in college now and still keep us busy! I serve as the Belchertown School Physician and sit on the BOAT committee (Belchertown Overcoming Adversity Together) and just started working with the Belchertown Opioid Fund Committee to help our town disburse money from class-action lawsuits from the Opioid Crisis. I also volunteer at a second-hand dress shop in Palmer on the weekends (Second Time’s A Charm – a thrifty prom boutique store) and love it there! In what is left of my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors, skiing, vacations at the beach, traveling ANYWHERE, watching college basketball, quilting, crocheting, and reading a good book (let me know your favorites!).
I am very fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of Pediatricians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants at Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine. Our staff is dedicated and supportive and I appreciate everything they do to keep our office running. I feel very privileged that you entrust me with the care of your children and appreciate the partnerships we form as we help your children grow!
