Thirza Campbell Lareau, M.D.
My name is Thirza Campbell Lareau. I was very fortunate to grow up in Wilbraham, MA. I played soccer, ran track and was involved in many student organizations before graduating from Minnechaug Regional High School in 1998.
I attended Colgate University in Hamilton, New York for college. While there I majored in chemistry, participated in local organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and spent a semester at the National Institute of Health. I graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Chemistry in 2002.
After leaving Colgate, I spent two years working at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA as a lab technician. While I was working in the lab I began to pursue a career in medicine. In 2004 I was accepted into the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA.
I have always been charmed by children, so it wasn’t long before I fell in love with pediatrics while studying medicine. I graduated from UMass Medical School in 2008 and went on to complete my pediatric training at Hasbro Children’s Hospital with Brown Medical School’s Pediatric Residency program in 2011. For the next three years I practiced pediatrics with Swansea Pediatrics, LLC in Swansea, MA.
While living in Rhode Island I married my husband, Craig, and became a mom to our two wonderful children. Our family moved to Charlotte, NC for a year from July 2014 through July 2015 so my husband could complete his orthopedic fellowship training. While in Charlotte, I was a full-time mom to our two young children.
Over the summer in 2015 my family and I moved home to Wilbraham. I was thrilled to be offered a position at Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine! I joined the practice in September of 2015 and am planning on staying here for the rest of my career. My husband practices Orthopedics with New England Orthopedics as one of their Foot and Ankle Specialists. He plans to stay with NEOS for his career as well. We have a large extended family in the area and love living in Western Massachusetts.
Professionally, I have many interests including congenital heart disease and obesity. I enjoy supporting parents and caretakers through the ups and downs of raising their children. I love helping children of all ages stay healthy as they learn and grow.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, cooking, and art. The majority of my free time is spent with my children and husband. I am excited to become involved with recreational sports and the public school system in Wilbraham again as our children get older.
It is an honor to be a part of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine. The opportunity to serve the children and families of my home town area as your pediatrician is a dream come true. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s care!
